What You'll Learn

Goals give you direction, motivation, and a sense of achievement. Without goals, you're drifting - with goals, you're moving toward something meaningful!

This workshop will teach you how to set SMART goals, break big dreams into small steps, stay motivated when things get tough, and celebrate your progress along the way.

Key Learning Points

1

SMART Goals Work Best

Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound. "Get better at karate" is vague. "Master front kick by next belt test" is SMART!

2

Big Goals Need Small Steps

Break big goals into tiny actions. "Eat an elephant one bite at a time" - every small step moves you closer to your big dream.

3

Write It Down

People who write goals down are 42% more likely to achieve them! Writing makes it real and helps your brain focus on making it happen.

4

Progress > Perfection

You don't have to be perfect - just better than yesterday. Celebrate small wins and keep moving forward, even after setbacks.

Activity 1: SMART Goal Formula

Transform vague wishes into clear goals

Learn the SMART formula and practice turning vague ideas into specific, achievable goals.

🎯 SMART Goal Formula:

  • Specific - What exactly do you want to achieve?
  • Measurable - How will you know you've done it?
  • Achievable - Is it possible with effort?
  • Relevant - Does it matter to you? Why?
  • Time-bound - When will you achieve it by?

❌ Vague Goal

"I want to get better at martial arts"

Too general - hard to know if you achieved it

✅ SMART Goal

"I will practice my forms 3 times per week for the next 2 months to earn my next belt by June"

Specific, measurable, and time-bound!

✍️ Make These Goals SMART:

Vague: "I want to do better in school"

Vague: "I want to make more friends"

Activity 2: Goal Categories

Set balanced goals across your life

Create one SMART goal in each area of your life for balance and overall growth.

Activity 3: Action Plan Builder

Break your goal into actionable steps

Choose one goal from above and create a detailed action plan with specific steps.

📋 Action Steps:

Activity 4: Progress Tracker

Create a system to track your journey

Set up your tracking system and commit to reviewing your progress regularly.
Daily Check-in: Did I take at least one action toward my goal today?
Weekly Review: What progress did I make? What's next?
Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge every step forward, no matter how small
Adjust When Needed: If something's not working, change the plan
Stay Accountable: Share progress with someone who supports you
Visual Reminder: Keep your goal somewhere you'll see it daily

🏆 My Reward System:

What will you reward yourself with for hitting milestones?

50% Progress:
75% Progress:
100% Goal Achieved:

Final Reflection

"What excites you most about the goals you've set? What's one thing that could stop you, and how will you overcome it? How will achieving these goals change your life?"
